Kishi Bashi is the pseudonym of singer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter Kaoru Ishibashi. Born in Seattle, Washington, Ishibashi grew up in Norfolk, Virginia where both of his parents were professors at Old Dominion University. As a 1994 graduate of Matthew Fontaine Maury High School, he went on to study film scoring at Berklee College of Music before becoming a renowned violinist.

Ishibashi has recorded and toured internationally as a violinist with diverse artists such as Regina Spektor, Sondre Lerche, and most recently, the Athens, Georgia-based indie rock band, of Montreal. He remains based in Athens.

David Barbe has has been referred to as having the most widespread involvement of any single figure in the Athens, GA music scene. He has worked on over 400 albums as producer, engineer, or musician, frequently at his Athens studio, Chase Park Transduction. H At various times he has made music either live or in the studio with hundreds of artists including, Mercyland, Bar-B-Q Killers, Sugar, Deerhunter, Drive-By Truckers, The Glands, Son Volt, Cracker, Ill Ease, Bloodkin, Bettye LaVette, Booker T. Jones, Lee Bains, to name a few.

He is the Director of the Music Business Program at the University of Georgia.

Bryan Poole is a professional musician and recording engineer, and part of the Elephant 6 recording collective. Bryan has played/recorded with such groups as Elf Power and of Montreal and mainly splits his time between Athens, GA and Berlin, and working on various projects remotely.

Bertis Downs has lived in Athens GA since 1978 when he commenced his legal studies. He is a Georgia attorney and was a longtime adjunct professor at the University of Georgia School of Law. His specialty is entertainment law, and he has represented the band R.E.M. throughout their career as a band and as a business.

Downs graduated from Davidson College in 1978 with a Bachelor’s degree in History and received his Juris Doctorate in 1981 from the University of Georgia School of Law.

Downs clerked for Senior Judge Wilson Cowen of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit of Washington, D.C. in 1983-84. For many years, he taught Entertainment Law at the University of Georgia School of Law.  He also taught the Recorded Music part of the Counseling Clients in the Entertainment Industries for the Practicing Law Institute seminar and has participated in the Music and Personal Appearance Division of the American Bar Association Forum Committee on the Entertainment and Sports Industries.

Downs is active in many civic and political organizations, and has served on the boards of People For the American Way, Network for Public Education, The National Education Association Foundation, Historic Athens, and the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation.  He is grateful for a gainful retirement these days and a life spent mainly in Athens GA and rural New Hampshire with his family including adult children Addie and Eliza and too many dogs.
