A cinematic journey around the United States following migratory beekeepers and their truckloads of honey bees as they pollinate the flowers that become the fruits, nuts and vegetables we all eat.

Tuesday March 10
Reception 7:00-7:30pm
Screening and Discussion 7:30pm

Join us at 7:00 pm for a reception with honey tastings from Dan Long, a Georgia Master Beekeeper and President of Eastern Piedmont Beekeepers Association. Enjoy appetizers and baklava made with local honey by International Grill and Bar, or try a honey-based cocktail from the cash bar. There will be plenty of beekeepers on site to chat with and be sure to see the teaching and observation hives, and have a selfie taken with the queen bee! We'll move to the theater at 7:30 pm for a brief lecture by Dr. Lewis Bartlett entitled "One bee, two bee, dead bee, doomed bees?"
Dr. Lewis Bartlett is a honey bee and disease biologist with University of Georgia's Center for the Ecology of Infectious Diseases and the UGA Honey Bee lab. Originally from England, he has been working on honey bees for ten years including in Britain, California, and here in Georgia. He specializes in being a 'bee doctor' by working with beekeepers to understand and treat the diseases and pests that attack their colonies.

Dan Long is an Athens, GA mail order nursery owner who is passionate about beekeeping. He received his Georgia Master Beekeeper certification and is currently the President of Eastern Piedmont Beekeepers Association and volunteer beekeeper for Sandy Creek Nature Center. Founded in 2010, his Tallassee Highlands Apiary produces honey and promotes beekeeping success through volunteering, lecturing and sharing of skills and knowledge.
