Ciné is proud to participate in this year's SCIENCE ON SCREEN®, a grant initiative of the Coolidge Corner Theatre, in partnership with the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, that creatively pairs current, classic, cult, and documentary films with lively introductions by notable figures from the world of science, technology, and medicine.  See below for this year's lineup of films and events:

Friday March 27
Reception 6:30-7:30pm
Screening and Discussion 7:30pm

Fantastic Fungi is a descriptive time-lapse journey about the magical, mysterious and medicinal world of fungi and their power to heal, sustain and contribute to the regeneration of life on Earth that began 3.5 billion years ago.

“Schwartzberg’s film quickly proves to be one of the year’s most mind-blowing, soul-cleansing and yes, immensely entertaining triumphs.”

~ Matt Fagerholm,

From mycologists to mushroom lovers, our last Science on Screen® event is sure to please everyone. Join us at 6:30 pm for a reception featuring tastings prepared by The National and the CCSD Culinary Arts Program with local mushrooms from UGarden. Collective Harvest is providing some local vegetables and will be on hand for discussion.

Drs. Anthony Glenn (Toxicologist, mycotoxins, USDA) and Marin Brewer (Plant pathologist, UGA) will let us know why mushrooms should be loved and feared with their brief talk, "Fantastic Fungi: friend and foe".
