With introduction by DR. RICHARD NEUPERT, UGA Professor of Film Studies, on FRIDAY 8/10 @ 7:30p
This irreverent, uplifting comedy about friendship, trust and human possibility, has broken box office records in its native France and across Europe. Based on a true story of friendship between a millionaire (Francois Cluzet) paralyzed after a paragliding accident, and his street smart ex-con caretaker (Omar Sy), the film depicts an unlikely camaraderie rooted in honesty and humor between two individuals who, on the surface, would seem to have nothing in common. Senegalese actor Omar Sy, whose sublimely funny and touching performance won the French Oscar, is spectacular, and both of these superb actors demolish stereotypes about race and social class by finding a common humanity in their characters.
