FRESH LOOK SHORTS PROGRAM II: Various 2007-09, Digital, Color, 82 minutes
Ciné hosts the Third Edition of “Fresh Look” Athens International Film Festival for Children and Youth, which screens international independent movies for children, youth, and families, including short and feature films. The screenings are an introduction to world cinema and to different aesthetics, cultures and realities.

SHORT FILM PROGRAM II
Recommended for ages 11 & up. Films in languages other than English will have subtitles. All films have been pre-screened and chosen for their appropriateness to age, with special concern for minimal violence, profanity and sexual themes.

ORGESTICULANISM

Created as a tribute to his late father, who spent the last 15 years of his life in a wheelchair, the film deals with complex issues of embodiment in a very interesting light.

After being punished for not wearing his orthopedic shoes, Federico decides to run away. Suddenly, Federico falls getting his foot caught in a fabric hole. As he tries to free himself, he realizes that every time he pulls a string something is destroyed in the world. Federico starts looking for the string that will destroy his shoes.

WARDA

Short animation film made by 12 young palestinian from Bethlehem and the Dheisheh refugee camp. Twelve children from Bethlehem fly away from the separation wall. The building of the wall was started in june 2002. Once finished, it will be 705 km long.

NO BIKINI

No Bikini introduces us to a young girl who defies sexual convention during her summer swim class, all beginning with an ill-fitted bathing suit. Filled with humor, this film is less about defining one's gender than it is about discovering personal strength.

SLEEPING BETTY

In this animated short, Betty is stuck in bed, victim to a strange bout of narcolepsy. The King calls on his subjects to rescue her and they all respond to the call: Uncle Henry VIII, Aunt Victoria, an oddly emotional alien, a funky witch and a handsome prince. But will a kiss really be enough to wake the sleeping princess? The film, drawn in ink, is a classic example of the anachronistic and playful world of Claude Cloutier.
